This privacy statement only applies to duckMail-Greetings.co.uk. It does not apply to affiliate or advertiser sites, products or services.

Overview
duckMail Greetings is committed to protecting your privacy. You can visit most pages on our website without providing us with any information about yourself but sometimes we do need to collect personal information to provide the services that you request. We also collect summary statistical data to help us to provide the best service to you.

In brief, we collect information for the following purposes:

  • Completing or supporting an activity
  • Website and system administration
  • Research and development
  • Tailoring the website for its visitors
  • Research, analysis, reporting
  • Contacting our visitors (except via telephone) for promotion of the site or products

Except under special circumstances described under 'disclosure exceptions' no-one but ourselves has access to the information we collect.

This document explains the collection and use of data in these situations.

Summary Statistics
We collect summary statistics relating to our visitors' usage of our website. This data is non-personal in nature and, in particular, helps us to identify the numbers of unique visitors and overall trends and preferences in terms of greetings sent to recipients. This statistical information is used solely by ourselves to identify those areas of our service which are most (and least) popular to our users and over time to help the develpment of our website in a way which is responsive to user preferences.

Cookies
A cookie is a small data file stored on you computer containing information sent to your browser by a web server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.

duckMail Greetings uses a single cookie (if you allow us to do so) to register each unique visitor to our site. This helps us to maintain the statistical informations referred to above. Our cookie simply tells us whether or not you have visted our website previously during your current internet session and it is destroyed when your internet session ends.

Personal Information
When you send a greeting, you are required to provide the following information...

  1. Your name or pseudonym
  2. Your email address
  3. Your recipient's name or pseudonym
  4. Your recipient's email address
  5. Your message

In addition to this we also log...

  1. Your IP address
  2. The time and date

This information is necessary to send the greeting and remains on our server for the lifetime of the greeting which is currently set to 11 days. At the end of the lifetime of the greeting all information relating to it is permanently deleted. All such information is treated as private correspondence and, subject to the exceptions outlined in the following paragraph, is available only to you and your recipient.

Disclosure Exceptions
From time to time we may need to view your greeting for technical reasons connected with its delivery or when asked to assist you or your recipient with the issue or receipt of the greeting respectively. In addition we reserve the right to disclose information to third parties... (a) if we are required to do so by law; and (b) to investigate, and to protect against, unauthorised use, misuse and/or abuse of our service.

Opt-In Email List
When you send a greeting you also have the option to receive or not to reveive occasional future updates from duckMail-Greetings. If you choose to receive occasional updates, your email address is also saved to a separate location and is used to keep you informed of new developments at duckMail Greetings at periodic intervals. Every communication we send you will contain clearly labelled instructions on how to opt-out of our mail list and withdraw your agreement to receive future mailings at any time.

Changes to this Statement
When we occasionally update this privacy statement we will also revise the "last updated" date at the top of the statement. Material changes to the statement will be notified to you by placing a prominent notice on the main web site.
